Waiver and Equipment Form - 2007
See SBYRA Sailing Instructions for specific entry requirements.
This form should be retained by the Yacht Registrant.

WAIVER:
In consideration of being permitted to enter the scheduled races and being fully knowledgeable
of the risks of sailing as a competitive sport, I do for myself, my personal representative, heirs,
assigns, guests and crew, waive and release any and all claims as may accrue to me or them
against the Saginaw Bay Yacht Racing Association (SBYRA), its race committee, its officers,
employees, or agents arising out of participation on any racing event or related activity sponsored
or governed by said SBYRA. The owner or captain of each yacht shall be fully responsible for the
actions and safety of the crew and guests, and it shall be the responsibility of each owner or
captain to advise the crew and/or guests of the contents of this agreement. It shall be the
responsibility of each yacht to decide whether or not to start or to continue a race.

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:
All racing yachts shall have all of the equipment required by government regulation. In addition,
yachts shall be equipped with the following:
    1. A marine radio capable of transmitting and receiving on VHF channels 9,16, 22, and 72; and,
    2. For night races, a self igniting waterproof light attached to a horseshoe type buoy.
All races are considered to be ORC category four (4) races and the SBYRA recommends that each
yacht have the additional equipment for such category. The Race Committee recommends (but
does not require) compliance with the US Sailing prescription to Section 5.01 of the Special
Regulations, that all personnel on deck wear personal flotation when starting and finishing
without exception, and at all other times except when the captain of the boat directs that it
may be set aside.

MEMBERSHIP:
Owner or captains of a yacht may join SBYRA for the Season Series, the Buoy, Middle or
Long Distance Series, which entitles their yacht to enter all scheduled races for the respective
Series sponsored by SBYRA. Yachts may also enter individual races. The SBYRA recommends,
but does not require, that all crew members concurrently possess membership in US Sailing as
well as a minimum of an Associate Membership in the SBYRA. Fees and types of Membership are
set out on the SBYRA application form.

INSURANCE:
Each yacht must be insured and the insurance must be in effect for each race in which the
yacht participates. It is understood the minimum liability amount is $300,000.00.
